summa

I couldn't stay in the city any longer, I just couldn't...Escaped to Quogue for 2 days of bestever.

Every time I head to Kat's country house, I am like a Fresh Air FUnd kid, basically. We went to a farm to pick our own berries and they had some animals and I was like..THAT'S WHAT TURKEYS LOOK LIKE? WTF?
It's a whole new world out there.

You know what rules? Eating a strawberry you picked yourself and it's all warm from the sun. THAT. RULES. Look at me up there. SO PSYCHED! Def ate twice as many as we put in the box, whoops.

KATIEBERRY

BUNNICULA

You know who else loves strawberries? This crazy ass bunny. He had a serious case of BERRY FEVER. We named him Bunnicula, duh.

BEST LUNCH

I drank a Budweiser barefoot while we drove to a farmstand. We cooked thangs all weekend and I now have a dangerous addiction to rhubarb.

Most important thing: Upon learning that me, Kat, and his mom all have beaus who are younger than them, 8-yr-old Thomas (a genius, clearly) declared: "I know why. Because younger boys know that older girls are H-O-T-er!"

CORRECT, THOMAS.
CORRECT.
A VERITABLE DOOGIE HOWSER, THIS ONE.

My nose is sunburnt.

white girl problemz

Sort of my favorite outfit I have worn in a longggg time. Too bad I stepped out of my apartment into psychotically oppressive waves of soul-suffocating New York City heat. In case you were wondering, I wish desperately that I was escaping right now like I did last summer...I MISS YOU, PORTLAND!

IF MY HEAD IS TILTED MAYBE YOU CAN'T TELL MY BANGS ARE CROOKED AS HELL?
NICE SMIRK, NOT FOOLING ANYONE CROOKED FACE.

Thrifted French Toast (!) little boy's denim jacket (from the recent Connecticut superhaul), grey tee, Peggy Noland highwaisted-dropcrotched-kneepatched cheetah print pants (with a second set of pockets at the knee), thrifted hippie straw bag that I dig cause my grandmother had one.

I had a lil meeting that day with my girl Kate Fleming..who was wearing her Céline wedges. I DIED. I was wearing Jeffrey Campbell Snicks, TWINS MUCH?

The color discrepancy in our skintones is appalling. I am such an indoor kid. What's a "tan"?

forehead is leaking, my AC squeaks

Even though I am an "adult" (air quote fings to the max) I am not above calling my Mom when she's on vacation in Florida and making her go to her local Target to get some teensy capsule collection situation that gets sold out within 100 miles of New York City in a nanosecond.

MOST RECENT CASE IN POINT:

CYNTHIAS & CYNTHIAS IN FULL EFFECT. DALMATION SIDEWALK COURTESY OF LITTERBUG PEDESTRIANS.

Cynthia Vincent for Target print wedge sandals.
Dying over these. I feel like I haven't seen them blowing up on the blogz as much as I woulda thought? These are way more dope than the Zac Posen stuff, no? La la la, I love my new shooooesssss. (After months of buying next to nothing, I have admittedly gone a little bit INSANE on the shoe buying front. There are gold D&G platforms to show you and I am impatiently awaiting my No.6 patent leathah clog order...)

I wore them with the latest addition to my sorta-getting-crazy-sock-obsession (somebody stop me).
These are Cynthia Rowley sheer anklets and I want to wear them with everything.

My sartorial mathematix:
Cynthia x Cynthia = Cramazing.

I got so many compliments on these yesterday, it was outta control.
Everyone I had meetings with, random DUDES on the street, one of the guys that works in my building and an old lady in a bodega!

Neon Guatemalan prints know no bounds, you guys (words to live by) !

awesome news alert

I am melllltinnnggggggggg you guys. MELTING.
Trying to wrap my brains around another NYC summer (I ditched it last year for my Vision Quest and I didn't miss it ONE SECOND)...the only thing getting me through it right now (besides Jamba Juices and my torrid love affair with my AC unit) is summer concertsssss.

Just heard abut a free Black Keys show coming up...getting the full details soon, STAY TUNED BRAHS!!!

BEST USE OF A DOPE BAND EVER: THE BLACK KEYS ON EASTBOUND & DOWN.

it's good to want things

Oh hey..guess what? MIA (heyyyy 90s brands, what UP) makes Swedish clog sandals that as good as Hasbeens (as far as I am concerned) and they sell them at Urban Outfitters for about one third the price. (And curiously...they were about $20 less at the Urban store than they were on the MIA site??)

Anyways..that only means one thing. MINE.

MIA CLOG SANDALS // AA CABLE KNIT KNEE SOCKS // MIU MIU S/S 05 TOTE

I consider it a cheap thrill.

Until I get those maroon patent No. 6s.
And I find a way to snag those Celine dream weavers (the potential sock/tights & polyester dress combinations are thrilling me to bits).

ADDENDUM:
PS. So many comments and emails about my bag!...I've posted it before. Here it is in it's runway glory, S/S 2005:

It was the first thing I had ever bought at Miu Miu, and at the time it was the most I had ever spent on any one object in my life (I think it was about $480..oh how PRICES have changed). Every year around this time I get the urge to bust it out for a while; it still holds up! Plus it is ENORMOUS. I used to have it covered in tons of thrift brooches (lots of what you see here) but now it's just Nefertiti, a tie clip and a giant plastic emerald..YA KNOW, CASUAL.

PPS, Real Talk: I also have that giant swirl pin. I would bough this entire collection if I could've; it is an all time favorite !

page turners

The internets are afire this week with talk of the new Spring/Summer 2010 campaigns...Bloggas be all excited bout them but fashion houses be all pissed at us? For posting pics? I am confused...it's free advertising and it is usually a LOVEFEST and all those ads'll be out in February mags right about now ANYWAYS...right? Right.

Well, controversey be damned here are some of my faves of what I have internets stalked so far:

BALENCIAGA / STEVEN MEISEL

Correct me if I am wrong, but (unless I have the credit info wrong) David Sims has shot the Balenciaga ads for years...Why the switch to Meisel this season, I wonder? I will assume they have kept M/M Paris on as the campaign designers (as they have for years) cuz this seems about their weirdness level (see any and all Stella McCartney ads for reference). I dig it though, if only cuz it is something unique in the sea of samesamesameyness that is the front third of most fashion magazines.

LANVIN / STEVEN MEISEL

The ads for Lanvin are always...CHALLENGING, shall we say? Remember the Bratz-like giant eyeballs? This ad is straight up UNCOMFORTABLE, but I find something fascinating in that.
Perhaps wearing Lanvin throws you into a full body orgasm. I would suspect that this is TRUE, although I have yet to have had the pleasure of Alber's creations on mah skin...Lemme try adn rectify that sitchernation and get back to ya.

CHANEL / KARL LAGERFELD (DUH)

Is that hat for sale? Because I need it. WHAT I ALSO NEED is Claudia Schiffer's pact with the devil/goblet of water from the Tuck Everlasting fountain. Last I checked bitch was 40. She looks 19. CALL ME, CLAUDIA.

GIVENCHY / MERT & MARCUS

They coulda done whaaaatevaaahhhh they wanted for this ad, I would been all for it. I LOVE THIS COLLECTION. I WANT TO WEAR TRIBAL ZIGZAGZ ALL OVER MY BODY ALL DAY LONG. Totally loving the logo treatment as well; it's like the logo for LOVE mag, which I know is controversial aesthetically for a lot of people but I am a champion of UGLY AMAZING and so I love it.

ALEXANDER WANG / FABIEN BARON

This is the first time I have ever been WANG RABID (hey wait, getyr mind outta the gutter!) in my life, readers of this blog know I am not usually a fan. But this sweatshirt MIGHT improve my life by like, 487%, I am pretty sure. Also (as I posted during fashion week) sidebraids are the new jam. And my supercrush Fabbyfabs is tops, obvs.

LOUIS VUITTON / STEVEN MEISEL

Bike shorts n clogs! Bike shorts n CLOGGZZZZZZZZ! I won't focus on the fact that this looks sorta like a grisly but CHIC murder scene discovery out of an episode of CSI:VOGUE, where they solve FASHIONABLE MURDERS with CUTTING EDGE TECHNOLOGY (the head detectives are played by André Leon Tally and Grace Coddington). I will just focus on BIKE SHORTS N CLOGZZZZZ!

PRADA / STEVEN MEISEL

I know I am in a cold lonely dark room in enjoying this collection as much as I do, but I feel like it falls under my aforementioned UGLY AWESOME rubric. CLEAR PLASTIC & VELCRO on everythin, let's do it, I dig it. And orange lips are a look I like to rock myself, so thumbs up right there.

MARC JACOBS / JUERGEN TELLER

She's standing in a toilet. I mean. You've got my attention. (The End).

OVERALL SIDENOTE:
Can we talk about Steven Meisel for a second? Dude has the market CORNERRRRRRED on ad campaigns. Kinda crazy, right?

mad wings

i got this sweater when i went DEEP thrifting into methtown the other day...it's pretty fucking dreamtown, i love it!

the sleeves are HUGE, this shit is AVANT. i hve it tucked in to a denim skirt which is maybe not the LEAST BULKY look for a gal, but i'm just going for it.

whoever this "MOM" character is, she should get her own sweater line. this is the best thing i have bought in a while.

bought a bullet keychain at this sick army navy store, it's my new jangle jam. (with my lucky coin)

these deena& ozzy white oxfords that i got a while ago at urban are what i wear with everything these days.

thank god the 90 degree bullshit that was happening here has slowed its roll.
it's 66 at 2 Pm and i couldn't be happier. SO the kind of summer i can can get down with!

my enemies are all too familiar

in 2001 i had a brief obsession with uh..yellow ribbons? like..that you get for horse jumping? yellow = 3rd place, that was the most hilaretarded and amusing. anyways, i used to wear them on jackets and bags and stuff, like a lunatic.

this morning i had an overwhelming urge to wear one on my dress.

WINNER! AND STILL CHAMPION! (not)

dunno who i was today. F21 shirtdress and fauxleather AA leggings- ROLLED UP and marc bonkers penny loafers.
???
unclear, it felt interesting though.

once i got to work i had to run it by someone i trust:

beep boop boop boop [numbers being dialed]

alex (at his desk on the other side of the floor): ga?
me: gaaaaaagaa. GAGA. um...a rolled up legging?
alex: noticed, love it. dope.
me: gaaa.

aaaanddd SCENE.

full disclosure, in the end i went with a SPANGLE JANGLE from h&m that i made superlong with extra chain. blue ribbon stayed home, too bad so sad.

it was a tough decision, but i am already the weird girl at the office and some days i can't take all the wtf looks.
know what ahm sayin?

happy friday, homeslices.

sequinsanity

as i am not really looking to spend so much cash these days, i tried to be tough on myself yesterday whilst among all the second hand treasures that long island had to offer.

apparently, being tough yields neil diamond records & multiple sequined items.

jacket.

polky-dotz (gonnna be so good under my overalls dress, and maybe with gaga hairbow? for when i go to...mars? gay bars? the key foods? all of the above?)

cummerbund (and gaudy rhinestone belt i couldn't resist)

crazytown

obsessed with this shirt already.
SUMMER OF SEQUINZ, COMMENCE.
