hidden talents

Oh, i forgot to tell you. I thrifted some tap shoes this weekend as well.

Look at those patterns in action...I surprise even myself sometimes.
(Patent leather tap shoes from a Southampton thrift, $7 // Grey satin ribbon perfectly tied & applied by Kat's mom // impromptu dance routine courtesy of my childhood dance classes)

PS, check that SHAG CARPETING, do you die? Kat's house in Quogue is my favorite place in the world, I swear.

every cutie with a booty bought a coogi

The highs and lows of my forays into commerce in the Quogue area this weekend:

MINE FOR NOW: Key West logo fake Wayfarers, $2. These are so dope. I think I have to give them to Hunter though.

HEARTBREAKINGLY NOT MINE: The LF/Jeffrey Campbell wannabe Acne Atacomas (ps, Acne has restocked the real ones at a NEW HIGHER PRICE. Thanks, internet hype!) For $195, I couldn't swing it. There were almost tears, but what can you do.

SOOOO TOTALLY MINE: A MOTHERFUCKING COOGI SWEATER, 20 bones. This shit is retarddeedddd bonkerssss. I DIE. I WILL WEAR THE SHIT OUT OF THIS CRAZY ASS THING. rolled up sleeves, high waisted skirt, patent leather chloe heels. It's gonna be BADONX. Will blog ASAP.

IF IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR THIS GUY:

IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME.

I just love your flashy ways, truetruetrue

I just unpacked all my winter stuff and I think I'm gonna start wearing boots again? Haven't been feeling them at all til right now, they looked weird? But now...I like.

1960's crazypaisley flannel minidress // Eley Kishimoto LIGHTNIN BOLT! tights // vintage knee high harness motoboots from the only vintage store I found in Rome (2002?! dios)

turkey teevee

Happy Fall Asleep On The Couch With Your Relatives Day, dudes.

I am thankful to live in a place that affords me easy access to turkey-shaped cakes with frosting pop-up timers (which may be a nipple or may be a witch egg). (WHYYY didn't I buy this cake when i had a chance?)

Enjoy the day! Don't get too drunk, don't fight with your brother and don't steal my turkey leg.

add it up

Perhaps you have been within 2 feet of me lately and/or you like to peruse this weblog?
If so, you may know of my newfound interest in developing my MYSTICAL INCLINATIONZ...My witchy-ways handbook says to wear what you love and I love Lover. (We all do, don't we? But it is RILLY RILLY RELEVANT to my LYFE right now).

Their F/W collection is titled White Moon Rising, that black confection with the lacey dreamsleeves above is called The Witches Circle Dress, and the capes, the velvet, and THAT ANIMAL-Y PRINT SKIRT are all so perfect for my upcoming autumn & winter of magicks...I want this all so very very badly.
BRB, crafting a GIMME spell (eye of something, tooth of somethin else, fairydust, salty tears, etc etc etc)

Hum it when I run by.

important reading

Will spend the rest of the afternoon with this lil treasure and my 3rd (4th? uh..5thhh?) coffee.

SELF SERVICE F/W 2009

Is this too much for Thanksgiving finery? Don't say yes.

Just push the mashed sweet potatoes through the veil, easy pease.

undercover

In case I decide to finally put out that Aphex Twin covers record, I gots the cover art ready and steady.

Last Sunday, the beach at sunset. After a bourbon&rum filled cup of eggnog, and right before our fingers became paralyzed from the cold.
I don't even know what I am doing here, but the hood alone on this thing is about 4 times the size of my head and so...I look like an ewok. No, I look like a jawa. Wait, I just made 2 Star Wars references...is that hot?

FYIslers:
The most insanely huge giant thick nubbly hooded cardigan coat is veentahge Cloak (RIP! Remember Cloak?), an old gift from an old friend // gold superhero leggings (I only wear them with this sweater) are AA obvs // suede lace-up boots are Dolce Vita gift from UO (theeenks)

in my dreams

One day I will do something worthy of allowing me to appear somewhere wearing this outfit.
I am completely serious, I consider this a PERFECT LOOK.

Ok, let's get real. I would wear this anywhere, forget "spesh occasions".
Let's fangirl all over it, shall we?
1. Off-kilter bouffant. No one really needs to see this much of my face, btw, but I still would love to walk around like this. Mental note, buy giant bumpits and DIY it.
2. White mink shoulder stole straightjacket topper. Lurve.
3. Long flowy sequined skirt (dress?)with whats-his-name on it, increds.

and and AND:

4.A JUDITH LEIBER BAG. I have always had a dark secret love for JL novelty bags..they are so synonymous with expensive tacky aunt but I LOVE THEM.
I LOVE THEM.

Whyyyyyy wouldn't you want a bejeweled pavé glittery forestdwelling creature slung across your body that you can fill with superimportant things like red lipstick, stray pennies, a button from god knows what, airplane peanuts, a lucky rock, grape hubba bubba and $11 dollars american (TMI?)

Here it is! Gimmmeeeee:

Or this one:

Or, okay, I WILL TAKE THIS ONE TOO:

UNFORTCH FOR OL' WL, these sweet, sweet jazzholes cost like, $3,800+ bones on the average and SO it reallllyyy REALLY will never be my own personal intense pleasure to own one. Very sad, this thing we call real life.

karma chameleon

In addition to the superiorbrainwaves which produce things such as white latex Where the Wild-er Things Are outfits, I believe that the HAUS OF GAGA has determined a way to make some sort of atomizing DNA replicant elixir...

AMA performance, H.O.G. (haahahaha) exoskeleton bodysock..Gwen Stefani head transplant?

Post-AMA CASUAL: Vint Dior Homme + MMM + H.O.G = my always favorite era of Madge- Dick Tracy/Truth or Dare 1990/1991 ? (clearly her biggest influence, mine too, I just just KEEP IT ALL INSIDE)

RaRaOhhLaLa in A. Wang glasses...channeling Carol Channing?

Dear Haus of GeeGee, please send me a sample of this fantasgreat facechanging juice.

I will take 1 oz of Empire Records-era Liv Tyler

1 oz of Bjorkitude in this picture

and a spritzer of Marianne Faithfull

time casts a spell on you

Between my new winter reading and this current addiction to Silver Springs, my winterwitch transformation is well on it's way.

I have never been a big Stevie Nicks fan, I have to admit this to you. But she IS the perfect witchywoman icon AND this song is tops. Especially for a sorta slowfeeling grey mellow preholidayinsanity kinda day like TODAY.

I mean:
"I'll follow you down til the sound of my voice will haunt you"?
Like, WOW Stevie, relax.
Did Lindsey Buckingham pee his pants the first time she presented this to the band? She was like..this is NOT about you Linds, seriously. I wrote it toooootalllllyyy about someone else, this guy you guys don't know. He lives in the Niagara Falls area (YOU WILL NEVER FORGET ME)"

we're lost in space

Just got the lookbook for The Row, S/S 2010.
It successfully combines multiple interests of mine: Stuff on your head, Hanna Liden photography and tribal bodypaint (win/win/win)

Birchwood Top

I am slightly hypnotized by this shot.
If this model had any sort of a rack it would seem almost like a goth John Currin.
In fact, most of the shots feel very painterly to me?
I fear (know) I am not sylphlike enough to wear The Row but I like the way this gal looks. 1880s/1980s, (or somethin).
I do NOT fear those shades however...MUST HAVE THOSE SUNGLASSES..when did they start making accessories? I LOVE.

Barton Jacket

Hello Ursula, I love your face. I love this dried bouquet headpiece, bodypaint-as-bodysuit and that washed leather jacket, gorgeouz.

Morgan Jacket

Think I need more jackets in my life. If this has pockets, it may be perfection.

Landry Skirt

Is this leather? Is this latex?
Can I have it? Can I wear it with that jacket I posted above it? (Burning questions)

Pretty.

good girls gone bad

What? Can you SAY that AGAIN? I'm sorry, can you speak up? I can't HEAR YOU over the CLOPCLOPCLYDESDALECLOMPING of my INSANE MARGIELA PLATFORMS.

I may have lost the "line", as it were. These are really not shoes for any sort of sane lifestyle- GOOD THING I DON'T LEAD ONE.

I have been stalking and daydreaming about the brown leather sandal version of these (obvi, Jane has a pair) and when Stevie DRAGGED me to the Margiela sample sale on Saturday, I had a minor cardiac infarction when I learned that they not only had them, but they were 70% off.

ALAS, dear readers..the size gods were not on my side (although they were a perfect size for Kat and so we got her a pair).

Instead I came away with these white leather & wooden platformed bananaboats. In my mind they are Lady Miss Kier by way of a Japanese Ganguro girl times a rebigulator (that is the machine that makes things giant, duh). Not only did I score some badonkers Margiela for $89 American, I am CRAZY TALL when I wear them and that is always ALWAYS awesome.

stomping

So MUSIC HEAVY on the bloggyblog lately! I can't help it, there's so much I'm excited about right now.

SLEIGH BELLS! Brooklyn's latest dopeshow.

I saw 'em this weekend at The Studio at Webster Hall and for a band with only about 7 songs, not only was it RAD, it was buzzbuzzbuzzaaaay. [According to people who know better than me, there was no less than like, 10 rekkid label people there and just FYIIIIIII...The Studio is like..the size of the Mercury Lounge.(translation..this shit is about to BLOW UP, dudes)]

They're some punishinglyloudgood electronic sounds: a boy on a guitar, and a girl bringin the noise.
I am officially a big fan of Alexis (said noisebringer) as she is foxy and her bangs stayed pretty much perfect as she was rocking out and dancing and raging.

How you keep yo hair so perfect, gurl?

CROWN ON THE GROUND! Get into this stompynoise..I am feeling like I need music to bash around to lately and this is totally it.

PS: When yr bff texts you 6 months from now about the sold out Sleigh Bells show at Bowery Ballroom and have you heard of them because they are kinda dope? you can tell them you heard about that shit EONS ago on WL. I am doing you a favor here, it's because I like you so much.

camouflage for crazy people

Why don't I wear this more? (I have blogged it before and I think that was the last time!)

Serrrrrriously
NEON pink cotton lycra dress with equally neon...trout? on it: Betsey Johnson archive (dont say vintage say ARCHIVE! TRES CHIC!).
This is early 80s Betsey...superfave of mine. I bought it in 2002 at a vintage store in the east village that isn't around anymore..I think it was like, 40 dollars or something insane like that.

I walked 3 blocks to a Duane Reade today and everyone stared at me.
It's pretty intense in the light of day, I will admit.

Should I wear it to my tarot reading tomorrow?

lovesick teenagers will never die

Current favorite walkabout-the-citay-with-this-on-my-headphones jam:
Wholehearted Mess by Bear in Heaven.*

OBSESSED with the album art...Mesmerizing mysticality by Laura Brothers

Their latest record, Beast Rest Forth Mouth, just got BEST NEW MUSIC on Pitchfork, NO BIG DEAL, that's only SORT OF MAJOR OR WHATEVER.

Hi guys, hiii.

Tell me, blogloves...How do you feel about really cute boys with dope jams? OMG ME TOO- so best right? I am personally partial to Adam Wills of the top right mustache, but that is possibly due to my prediliction for SOUTHERN BOYS with JANGLES.

Free show November 20th at Zebulon...I'll be the one in the front with the giant black leather bow. See you there, brahs.

*You can download the song here, it's a really good grey day wandering song...'Lovesick Teenagers' is my 2nd fave and you can grab that one too. Of course, you could just get the whole record but I don't want to tell you what to do, that's just rude.

flashback

Ohh hot damn..For Fall 09 Slow and Steady Wins the Race has redone their now-signature wedges in CRUSHED VELVET?!

It is the living reincarnation of my beloved 11th grade MIA platforms (I tried to find yous a pic, but no dice) and I think that I need to have them.

Too bad this shiz is SOLD OUT, because if they weren't you (I) COULD buy them from Stand Up Comedy...ballsammich.

Welllllll...IF I MUST...mabes these Rachel Comeys instead?

OKOK, TWIST MY ARM WHY DONTCHA.

r.i.p. ?!?!

Is it really true? The end of Luella? Howwwww can this be? These "troubled times" are realllllly fucking with my program.

You can't take Luella Bartley down until I am able to be this girl for a day. I DO BELIEVE that that is the perfect fall coat. I might be wrong, but I am never wrong so how can that be wrong?!

And um...totally a bummer and all but uh..does that mean that I can buy that polky-dotted handbag at some sort of discounted price? Because it would be a DELIGHT to have it in my life. JUST WONDERING, OK ?

it's true

A sweeter sentiment has never been expressed.

It's raining and it's grey and I don't want to do anything but stay in bed and listen to this on repeat with the person who put it on a mixtape for me. So there.

PS, Neon Indian- December 16 at Mercury Lounge. I think I am so there...Come with me?

crucial

A couple weeks ago I stopped by the new Bodkin offices to fondle the wares and get excited about S/S 2010..which was not hard to do because everythinggggg was so so cute.

Beyond the realdealholyfields, the lookbook (of which there is a hard copy of, on newsprint, I love newsprint) threw me into a minor frenzy, as I am maaajorly gingerjelz these days...This model is making me want to dye my hair TODAY.

A few items that I am springtimedreaming about:

Equinox dress

Bermuda blazer // La Niña bralette // Santa Ana shorts

OBSESSED with this look. Lil shorts suit with brogues! Dreamy springdaytimes.

Cumulus dress

Ohhhh PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEEEEEE, I want this....look at the hem of that dress, can I keep things in there? phone and keys and gum and a slingshot and a flask and gummy bears?

Cirrus sweatshirt // Santa Ana shorts

Oxygéne dress

Sooooo gorgeous and flowy and silky and CROPTOP'D in a dress!

Nimbus tunic // Typhoon skirt

I want this to be me. Like, yesterday.

I am not SO much of a hippie, but Bodkin is the kind of label I love to get excited about: Brooklyn talent + sustainable fabrics + cute clothes = I dig.

Go out and support the EARTH while wearing some sick threads. Steven Alan, Jumelle, and LaGarconne all carry it.

PS I went looking for info on the SHOES in this shoot- that are unbelieveablyyyyyy sick (PERFECT lace-ups) - and discovered they are more local talent:Dieppa Restrepo. I was (completely coincidentally) going to do a post about them later in the week, I was birthday gifted a pair of their laceups yesterday and they are my dream brogues ! More on that this week...

the day after yesterday

I was SO HIGH on yesterday's RahRahOhLaLaCaughtInABadRomance FANGIRLSPOSION, that when I rewatched the video last night (on a huge beautiful desktop screen, which does the Lady G so much more justice than my cracked out Powerbook from 2005 [life is hard]) I realized that I missed a VERY MAYJ MOMENT.

I AM MORTIFIED. Truly.

You have to understand, I was literally like a caffeinated child yesterday trying to get the post up, it caused thangs to SLIP THROUGH THE CRACK(head)S.

MAYJ 1:

Mr Bigglesworth, is that you? Why is there a hairless cat in a Bath Haus?
SIDE QUESTION: Why DO THESE THINGS EXIST at ALL?!?

MAYJ 1A: Bigglesworth headpiece

Is this her coronation as Queen of the Hairless Pussies?
(CATS, I MEAN CATS...ok no, I don't mean cats.)

Ok, that was it. Get back to work, people!

you're a criminal, as long as you're mine

So a few things happened last week. I moved into a new apartment, I saw Girls live at Bowery Ballroom, and I learned that Aviva makes the best bloody marys I have ever had in my life.

Two out of those 3 things will be semi-captured in this post.

Girls tee (I couldn't resist, I have wanted one desperately since I saw Marisa's this summer! OBSESSED WITH IT) I was gonna croptopify this jazz, but i just wor it tucked in. I don't think it will escape my scissors of fury though. It is sorta imminent.
Also pictured: Vintage velvet bowtie (kinda wanna start wearing them on tees like this) , new bathroom.

Question: How do we feel about bringing back a witchy striped sock? It is verrrrry 8th grade (that is, ME in 8th grade) but it felt like the only correct leg option for such an outfit. It's also very "Ricky's Halloween costume" but...I like them right now! Sowwy.

Lazy day..lazy eye??!
I swear to Gaga, my eyeballs are totes regs when I am looking straight ahead. That right one just goes rogue when I look to the side. So hot, I know.
