Sort of my favorite outfit I have worn in a longggg time. Too bad I stepped out of my apartment into psychotically oppressive waves of soul-suffocating New York City heat. In case you were wondering, I wish desperately that I was escaping right now like I did last summer...I MISS YOU, PORTLAND!

I had a lil meeting that day with my girl Kate Fleming..who was wearing her Céline wedges. I DIED. I was wearing Jeffrey Campbell Snicks, TWINS MUCH?

The color discrepancy in our skintones is appalling. I am such an indoor kid. What's a "tan"?

THIS IS SO MAJOR FOR ME, YOU GUYS.
NOW I CAN LIVE THE DREAM.

What dream, you ask?  Good question!
A simple dream: to be Lady Miss Kier, posing mystically in the Milky Way, while enormous blurry daisies float by and an Asian deejay in striped pants slomo  speedskates on by.

I can't. I mean. I have waited for this for YEARS!
Do you realize I have a permanent eBay alert for Fluevogs?! But no one ever sells that shit! At least not in my size! WTF, world?!?
If you are an avid reader of White Lightning, you know how I feel about this.

...But what if I can't live without them? I must figure out a way.

new beginnings

A few of my current favorite things.

New dress from Opening Ceremony (I have worn it almost every day since I bought it..TMI? WHOOPS), yellow tights, perfectly broken in 70s clogs (2 dollars at the Sals in Connecticut, during our set visit to The Innkeepers- more on that later), mini leather backpack (another 2 dollars at the Sals).

The entirety of my thrift haul:

Light blue hard shell circle suitcase (with violet interior), the afore-photo'd clogs, a red Donna Martin-esque boob-cupped crop-top, a purple LL Bean crazy patterned anorak that is verrrry O.Ceremony, the perfect little boys denim jacket, leather backpack, top-handle purse, blue leather coin pouch (my new camera bag), a slouchy linen blazer thing, 2 light denim button downs and a striped romper.

$29 bones for all of it.
Good lord, I love a good day at the Salvation Army.
Note: Good thing I bought a suitcase cuzzzzz....there was no other way to get all this crap home.

I forgot to take a pic of my outfit for the Hole show a couple weeks ago. WHOOPSY, bad blogiquette.

I really went for it. And by that I mean I not only wore fur (it was freezing) and sequin hotpants, but I have recently acquired some truly DELIGHTFUL D&G wedges that are almost beyond description. All you need to know is that they are GIANT and GOLD.

PERHAPS YOU NEED A BETTER LOOK?

I. DIE.
The wedge is GOLD WOOD! They make me tall as hell, they are crazy easy to walk in and I feel a little bit like Bootsy Collins.

And why is that a bad thing?

PS. Hole concert was good but WAY TOO SHORT..like 10 songs, INCLUDING the encore? C'mon Court! That's a little bit unfair. It was so fun though. A shining sea of tiaras and baby barrettes!

Apparently I was SPOTTED when we were walking out?! Kara & Doree overheard girls behind us saying "Omg, hey that's White Lightning!" OMG HEY PLEASE SAY HI NEXT TIME! Amazing!

Even though I am an "adult" (air quote fings to the max) I am not above calling my Mom when she's on vacation in Florida and making her go to her local Target to get some teensy capsule collection situation that gets sold out within 100 miles of New York City in a nanosecond.

(After months of buying next to nothing, I have admittedly gone a little bit INSANE on the shoe buying front. There are gold D&G platforms to show you and I am impatiently awaiting my No.6 patent leathah clog order...)

spring flingz

Life is SA-WEEEET right now, bloggybffs!
My laptop is back and as good as ancient, the weather is staying around 68 degrees (tights optional, my favorite temp) and I have a little bit of good ol' fashioned LEGAL TENDER to spend!!!

I have been starved for a good ol' SHOP.
A few of my new favorite things!

A few things old, a few things new, a few things gifted, a couple things blue? Some new sunglasses, stripey socks, a backpack, a dope necklace, new oxfords and a knuckledusterbuster ring, and a couple of silky dresses.

I bought a Fjallraven Kanken backpack at the Opening Ceremony shop at the Ace (I like it better than the regs OC store), 50% for fashion and 50% because I am getting an unbecoming GANGSTA LEAN from carrying my laptop around in a shoulder bag.

The Wonder Woman cassette necklace is an AMAZING gift from Sunshine (whose entire increeeeedible package to me is soon getting a post of it's own)

One-of-a-kind embroidered oxfords from Osborn (I visited their studio in Brooklyn, post coming soon!!). How amazing are these shoes!!! Since I bought my first pair of Osborn's at the Bk Flea (almost exactly 1 year ago today!) I have been dyingggggg for another pair. There are a sample that they agreed to sell me. I adore them..that's an understatement.

Karen Walker perfect circle "Rover" sunglasses. Dreams realized, in sunglass form. I finally have Karen Walkers and I can add to my perfect circle lens collection.

The green satin and velvet 60s (?) headband was another part of my best-package-ever-received from Sunshine. I like to wear it more like a CROWN than a headband.

The stripeysocks are by Happy Socks...also from the OC store at the Ace Hotel aka my home away from home.

My last bit of spring shopping business happened today at No. 6..I put in a custom order for a clog situtation...I am pretty sure no one else will have this combination. 15 business days is gonna feel like an eternity!!!

Oh hey..guess what? MIA (heyyyy 90s brands, what UP) makes Swedish clog sandals that as good as Hasbeens (as far as I am concerned) and they sell them at Urban Outfitters for about one third the price. (And curiously...they were about $20 less at the Urban store than they were on the MIA site??)

Anyways..that only means one thing. MINE.

I consider it a cheap thrill.

Until I get those maroon patent No. 6s.
And I find a way to snag those Celine dream weavers (the potential sock/tights & polyester dress combinations are thrilling me to bits).

It was the first thing I had ever bought at Miu Miu, and at the time it was the most I had ever spent on any one object in my life (I think it was about $480..oh how PRICES have changed). Every year around this time I get the urge to bust it out for a while; it still holds up! Plus it is ENORMOUS. I used to have it covered in tons of thrift brooches (lots of what you see here) but now it's just Nefertiti, a tie clip and a giant plastic emerald..YA KNOW, CASUAL.

PPS, Real Talk: I also have that giant swirl pin. I would bough this entire collection if I could've; it is an all time favorite !

I went to Miu Miu and I matched the walls.

Then I tried on these perfect Miu Miu satin and leather wonder heels.
Then I melted into the upholstery and disappeared, because nothing would ever be so perfect ever everrrr again.

I have no money for shoes right now, my closet is overflowing and all my friends are buying Swedish Hasbeens at an alarming rate.

In my dream clog reality (and all this workin ain't fer nothin, ONE OF THESE will be mine quite soon, mark my words..), I would have all of the above.

Hasbeen boots, Celine wedges, Chanel anklebreakers, Jeffrey Campbell red devils, Zara hippie wedge, No. 6 shiny T-straps...Fucking DELIGHTFUL, right?

I have been thinking on this for way too long; I think it will be a pair from No. 6. In maroon patent leather. I already went to the store with Lesley (who has Swedish Hasbeens from Sweden, which seems specialer than regs ones) and tried on every single pair they have; I love that you can design your own...you could really spend all day there (I did).

Please let the record reflect that I still hold out hope for some sort of Celine miracle. Throw a penny in a fountain fer me, k?

They are a combination of so many incredible and seriously rad references.

To my eye, I see:
Eames bent plywood chairs, mineral deposits, salt shakers, Gerrit Reitveld chairs, my childhood FisherPrice rollerskates that clicked onto your shoes, sedimentary rock, and oh...the hopes and dreams of my entire lifetime?

I have never been so excited to see something in real life. 

I know I say it often but I REALLY will try to do anything in my power to own those bent plywood beauties. Although any of them would make me happy for the rest of my life, let's get real.

Oh, i forgot to tell you. I thrifted some tap shoes this weekend as well.

Look at those patterns in action...I surprise even myself sometimes.

What? Can you SAY that AGAIN? I'm sorry, can you speak up? I can't HEAR YOU over the CLOPCLOPCLYDESDALECLOMPING of my INSANE MARGIELA PLATFORMS.



I may have lost the "line", as it were. These are really not shoes for any sort of sane lifestyle- GOOD THING I DON'T LEAD ONE.



I have been stalking and daydreaming about the brown leather sandal version of these (obvi, Jane has a pair) and when Stevie DRAGGED me to the Margiela sample sale on Saturday, I had a minor cardiac infarction when I learned that they not only had them, but they were 70% off.

ALAS, dear readers..the size gods were not on my side (although they were a perfect size for Kat and so we got her a pair).



Instead I came away with these white leather & wooden platformed bananaboats. In my mind they are Lady Miss Kier by way of a Japanese Ganguro girl times a rebigulator (that is the machine that makes things giant, duh). Not only did I score some badonkers Margiela for $89 American, I am CRAZY TALL when I wear them and that is always ALWAYS awesome.

new is the new "new"

So the BOOTS make me dress differently...as I stated in a previous post..something about them makes me want to do weird longer lengths and odd shapes?



I found this "dress" at H&M for 10 dollars...I don't know if the greater public of NYC was ready for this jelly, this thing is just a giant rectangle with arms and pockets, and there were LOADS on the CLEARANCE rack...but I thought it had potential? And with the BOOTS in mind i got it.



Um..the first thing i did to it was take some scissors and cut 2 belt holes in the front and 2 in the back and ran this satin Chanel ribbon (where the fuck did this come from? NO idea, as I am sadly Chanel-less in my life) through the holes, with it being tied around on the inside, if you understand.



This thang needed SOME sort of shape to it, at least on a gal like me.



I have become a little obsessed with it.
This thing + boots + obnoxiously bright lipstick = TOTES Swedish shopgirl vibe!
i also feel lil Natalie Merchant-y, is that weird?

PS, I can't remember the last time my KNEES were covered. HOW DROLL!



Also obsessed with: My Katherine Fleming Kate bag in ELECTRIC YVES KLEIN BLUE. I love it, I love it SO MUCH. Every time I wear it, I get a million compliments (go forth to Barney's and PURCHASE, my dears)



Sidenote on this new vibe I am digging: It is most decidedly NOT dude apporoved. Not that I care much, but this dress is not really HOT.
Also, bros are weirdly ANTI on my dream boots! Hunter thinks they are the ugliest things ever and Hate Martin straight up LAUGHED at me! DUDES HAVE NO VISION! S'cool, I look down at them and feel giddy and that's all that matters.



This horse medallion remains the BEST jangle of all time, I have almost had it almost one year exactly (thank you AGAIN andreas, best gift status).

I may live in this outfit for a few more days, so if you were tryin to spot me in a crowd...it just got that much easier.
