pleetz pleez

The Samantha Pleet F/W 2010 show & afterparty was truly a friend filled fun fest.

SAM AND HER MODELS, POST RUNWAY

Sam's collection, which is really my absolute fave of hers to date, is full of plaids n parkas and capes and rompers and paperbagged highwaisted skirts that are going to be major.

She did a collab with Osborn (they of my Somali-pirate oxfords that I bought in April 09 at the Brooklyn Flea) and used silks that had been first buried in the ground for 3 months (I know)!
Sam is nothing if not whimsical.

The lookbook was styled and shot by the insanely wonderful and vivacious duo of Miss Kathleen Clements and Andrew DeFrancesco, respectively. They also co-directed a video to accompany the collection.

When Kat proposed I crafternoon with her to make some quasi-hippie-mystical jewwwrieees for SP Fall 2010, how could I say no? I love adding a SLASH to my job title!

Here is a melange of SP related imagery for Fall 2010. Some lookbook, some runway, some film stills, some shots of my jangles and some of my iphone pics...Start making your lists nowwww:

muse

Monday nights have now become HOLY NIGHTS in Lighting Land, as Bravo has turned on a shining light in this dark dark winter...I am not just speaking of the delightful Kell on Earth & my spirit animal K Cutrone, but of my ab-so-lutely favorite person ever on teevee:

APPARENTLY, ANDREW HAS NEVER MET A MESH HE DIDN'T LOVE

Andrew M. aka The Lord of Breathable Fabrics.

Andrew is like..a superbro glam fashion gypsy from the planet Mesh-ton.
If I was a dude I would dress like this, freals.

I ADORE YOU, ANDREW.
Please wear the one-sleeved tee to the Mara Hoffman show this Thursday, so I can see it in person?
Or maybe one of Mara's tunics with bondage pants?
Or perhaps a mesh bodystocking with one of yr flannels and brass knucks that say PEOPLES on yr right hand, REV on the left?
I will pray every night this week for this to come to true.
Save me from FW misery, please.

Can't wait for tonight's episode, and how long til Andrew gets a his own dating show?

P FUCKING S.
I JUST HAD A FLASH OF BRILLIANCE.

What.
About.
...K CUTRONE on Millionaire Matchmaker? STANGER & CUTRONE, HEAD TO HEAD! ooomg. I would DIE. DIE!!!!!

WAit.
WAITTTT.

SCRATCH THAT.
CUTRONE & STANGER...in a Cagney & Lacey remake? Kicking asses and putting bitches in jail?? With sweepsweek cameos by Tabatha, as their Aussie friend in town with a special case that only C & S can crack? (For pete's sake, Bravo...call me. I have so many great ideas.)

Whew, all that genius just knocked me out. Gonna go lie down.

all i want is everything

i would wear everything that alexandre herchcovich sent down the runway.
all of it. rubber babydolls, metallic hoboplaid shirts, crazy color pattern EVERYTHING.

those 2nd, 3rd, and 4th looks are RUBBER! give it

as the show progressed the volume just became more and more PRONOUNCED. there was a bit of a football pad situation that just went haywire...

red metal cage skirt! giant shouldered balloon shirt!

..until it culminated in a piece that was really wearing the model, it was like she was wearing a quarterback ballerina birdcage. i was so jealous i couldn't breathe.

LOOK

AT

THIS

i want to go to there. take me, please?

so close yet so far

SPOTTED at new york fashweek
numba one on your (my) fall shopping list:

dream weaverz

the prettiest boys i saw last week were at patrik ervell..floppy mops, minty jeans & clarks. not groundbreaking, just great looking.

i want boys to look like this all the time..pouty walks and late afternoon light pouring in through a window. sometimes you just want life to look like fashion week? (no. you don't)

hiiiii. hi.

i am totally the president of the Gimme A Boy In Clarks Club. also vice-secretary and head nerd in charge.

shports

i am not one to take any sort of interest in SPORTY things, fashion or otherwise, BUT the Y-3 show was pretty cool..i had a lil bit of a brainspolsion when this thing came down the runway:

i guesssssss you can't really do much but walk around with your arms akimbo and maybe...catch dolphin-safe tuna? i have no idea BUT I WILL TAKE ONE, thank YOU mister YAMAMOTO.

i love the scale of armory shows, SO many people and lights and cameras and lil models in a giant space!
i was taking more pics of the circus of it all than the clothes really, oops.
a few more of my shots over at whitelightning.thepop.....

me n my calvins

can we discuss calvin klein for a moment?

i feel like francisco costa is secretly putting out some of the odd/coolest stuff at NYFW and no one is really getting into it! is it because it's a mega brand? i mean, those paperlike origami coats n dresses last season were sort of breathtaking and crazy...i feel like we should all be lusting after this stuff more!

i was very lucky to go to the calvin klein S/S 2010 show and i have to say, it was really beautiful. all the girls looked like they had been caught in the rain, drenchy lowponytails and slick skin but it was so pretty?

the clothes looked like these delicate diaphanous filmy dresses and coats that had been soaked by a downpour and then dried on a clothesline or something... i promise you, the photos take all the delicacy and wonder out of it:

you have to trust me, they were so pretty and weird and COVETABLE. i never go for a one-sleeve situation but these were so cool. the first section of all whites and the last sections pastels were my favorite.

they best ever though was the SHOES:

the white patent leather is SO MINE.
they are reminding me of the Sassy magazine editor craze of the mid-90s when they all took their birkenstocks to st mark's and got mega platforms put on them*.

wrong + right = so best

i may need to recreate this this winter, who's with me?

*thank you marissa for reminding me of that phase a few weeks ago, i CANNOT BELIEVE i forgot about it...

it seems like years ago already

i am SO BEHIND. so so so very blogbehind.
this FASHION WEEK we speak of, it's all a whirlwind of people and flashes and smalltalk and taxis and derek blasberg obsessively tweeting tavi's every move (does someone have a crush?)

i am gonna try to stick to chronology but time may get a tad ELASTIC on here in the days to come, bear with me please.

lets start with:
the party, the POP party. friday night.
larry gagosian's house. (when i say "house" i mean, HOUSE. elevator, sick art, amazing furniture..a swimming pool wth a clear plastic cover that coubled as dancefloor? NO BIG DEAL)

i, of course, danced most of the time? and didn't really take pictures?

me & laia, wine wine wine

i met gwen stefani and her huband BUSH. they look exactly like papparazzi photos of them; quite attractive. bjork was there and sofia coppola and proenzas and like, everyone?
i met MARYKATE which was sorta epic.

covergirl in rodarte

i tried to work up the courage all night to say something ANYTHING to olivier zahm, but i chickened out. and he was too busy dancing with daphne guinness ANYWAYS.

laia's boots

once my I R L friend alex "new haircut" hawgood showed up i was a crazed out dance machine. alex even got tavi out on the floor and totally made her kick out the jams.

alex. yohji anorak, ok? don't worry about it.

the amount of art in this house made my heart happy and hurt at the same time. so much goodness on every wall. the room we checked our COATS in was full of like, 30 warhols. amaze.

kate, shortstack, father of shortstack

laia & i stayed laaaaaaaate late with our POPgal becks and larry himself. talkin music and 90s.
you know why i loved larry gagosian? BECAUSE LARRY GAGOSIAN LOVES THE 90S.
to quote him:
"i love the 90s. they were just like the 70s but with tons of cash"
and i died.

hiding, gossiping, nerd alerting

maybe fashion makes the baby jesus cry

NY FW, DAY TWO.

dudes..new york is WET.
not like, andrew WK I GET WET, more like some sort of temperate slow and steady chinese water torture. it makes trying to look DECENT like, sooooo much fun, REALLY.

and so, this is how it went.
slow & steady wins the race black leather pocket tee (cut to croptop, SO much doper), jonathan saunders for target pyschedelia skirt, marc jacobs richard prince-y naughty nurse shoes.

GOLD STARS for susie bubble who pretty much correctly guessed my outfit while we (me, tavi, laia, kat, susie) waited for cushnie et ochs to begin yesterday.

SIDENOTE: the aforementioned black leather tee was molested by a crazy person at my herrrr salon yesterday, i was like who are YOU...i realized who he was when i saw his MARC JACOBS logo tattoo, this dude:

merc's ex, jason preston?
dude is locobananas, if you were wondering.

pps i miss this marc

the light is coming back to my eyes

new york is a styleblog ORGY right now.
not only was camille the childhood flames on my flight from portland to new york, but i finally got a chance to meet ZANA, miss garbagedress, I R L. what is so weird is that the second i met her i felt like we'd always known each other? strange, that.

photo from zana's blog...

photo taken way too late after too many whiskeys on E 2nd street, a block from my old apartment. good grief look at my face, sloppz
ps
there are photos of me on that carousel horse behind us THAT SHALL NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY. (you heard me, adf), too bad so sad not really cuz i look like a hag (RHYMES!)

okokokok.. NY fashion week! how to do it all and blog? seems unpossible.

here is me yesterday on DAY ONE, a shadowy picture of INTRIGUE

vintage frock, hemmed about 40 inches, from a store in nashville.

taken in the ladies at the Hayden-Harnett presentation which was FANTASTIC. HH for spring is leather jackets and vests i died over and really really REALLY good bags. everything was great and IMPECCABLY STYLED by the incomparable kat clements...pictures to come, as soon as my dear friend ADF sends them my way...

off to day 2.
bensoni, cushnie et ochs, rag & bone, POP DINNER.
here we go....
