summa

I couldn't stay in the city any longer, I just couldn't...Escaped to Quogue for 2 days of bestever.

Every time I head to Kat's country house, I am like a Fresh Air FUnd kid, basically. We went to a farm to pick our own berries and they had some animals and I was like..THAT'S WHAT TURKEYS LOOK LIKE? WTF?
It's a whole new world out there.

You know what rules? Eating a strawberry you picked yourself and it's all warm from the sun. THAT. RULES. Look at me up there. SO PSYCHED! Def ate twice as many as we put in the box, whoops.

KATIEBERRY

BUNNICULA

You know who else loves strawberries? This crazy ass bunny. He had a serious case of BERRY FEVER. We named him Bunnicula, duh.

BEST LUNCH

I drank a Budweiser barefoot while we drove to a farmstand. We cooked thangs all weekend and I now have a dangerous addiction to rhubarb.

Most important thing: Upon learning that me, Kat, and his mom all have beaus who are younger than them, 8-yr-old Thomas (a genius, clearly) declared: "I know why. Because younger boys know that older girls are H-O-T-er!"

CORRECT, THOMAS.
CORRECT.
A VERITABLE DOOGIE HOWSER, THIS ONE.

My nose is sunburnt.

what a week it was

Some key moments from the week(s) gone by:

Raowl Julia (Laia, you genius), Hunter, HDS- my three favorite guys.

Everything you'll ever need.

Circle circle, dot dot.

Cats!

This cake is a donut. (I know)

Hunter's portrait of my janky thumb. It looks like a doll hand. Or a 90s album cover.

Denim on denim on denim! New favorite. Plus the ever present red clogs, obvi. Which I realize NEED their own post! Ew, my legs look terrible here. Like a pigeon toed troll. WHOOPS.

at a glance

I am really into do this weekly post of my week in iPhone-ness...I guess that is sorta what Tumblr is for, but let's let WL get DIVERSE, shall we?

OMG, It's Lisa! And Court! And a tiny part of one of Louise's pictures! ON THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE! (I am fully in the tractor beam of this show. I try to break free, and I cannot. Weak.)

Homemade baked egg & arugula pizza, no big deal

Took a walk through Central park to the Met, no big deal, part 2.

Have to take a better pic of this, my favorite outfit in a while: SPRINGSPRUNG. Hayden-Harnett denim trench, Lauren Moffat silk dress (thanks Lauren!), Happy Socks, Target wedges (standing in for the Celines. or Jeffrey Campbells. NEED NOW!)

Hunter's plate. First trip to Pies N Thighs. That is a straight up BALL OF FRIED CHICKEN on the top left there. Insanity. I ate my first hush puppy ever. It was ok.

Dear Apple,
I am so addicted to my iPhone camera, please let the next gen have a flash and a MUCH BETTER lens?

fashion hoarders part 2

As promised, I will continiue to fully expose my maximalism to the unflinching internets. As I am actually still moving into my apartment (long story), there are so SO many boxes of treasures that have yet to be unpacked, and thrust into your eyespace.

I started going throuh my jewwrees the other night, to find my Elizabeth nameplate (feeling it again) and realized..good GRIEF I have a lot of charm/pendant/things-to-hang-from-yr-jangle..BLOOOG POST? (nerd!). Here are some of the highlights.

Let's consider this the pruned & curated collection; I purged/sold so much last summer before VISION QUEST OH NINE. I kept everything that was sentimental, important or had a great story.

SIDENOTE Embroidered art is one of my collections (consider this a teaser). This Matisse-inspired situtation right here was purchased in the South Hamtpon (they have really good thrifts!).

Blistered Pearl by Heather Morra, gift from my mom
ENORMOUS Scorpion Las Vegas thrift, bought on my sister's 21st bday weekend
Sterling Silver perfume heart (top left) from Paramus Park Mall when I was 13
Yin-Yang/Weed leaf & Flying Eagle pocketknives 25 cents each from old Chinese man on Grand Street (bought with BDonns about 3 or 4 yrs ago)
Scorpion / E / Scorpion / E necklace gifts from my grandfathers when I was a child
Elizabeth nameplate from the mall (?) bought in college
Tiny harmonica (before this craze of tiny harmonicas, sorry but TRUE) from a children's store in Soho
Assorted lockets (hearts and otherwise) thrifted, collecting since high school
TCB in a Flash from Graceland, 1st cross country trip in 2000
Bullet from Army Navy store in Portland last summer (also bought with BDonns)
Ceramic Elizabeth heart gift from Ece
78 gift from my sister

Giant Ass Hippie Crystal recent gift from my sister
Red Glass Coral / ES heartshaped locket / Evil eye / Diamond center flower assorted gifts. The engraved locket is from an ex-bf and has a pic of me and my grandmother in it. The others were gifts from family members. They are always on this chain and I wear this when I fly or need luck!
YinYang Ball gift from BDonns (how did he figure so prominently into my jangle collections???) (Hunter wears this sometimes. it has a tiny bell inside- JINGLE JANGLE!)
Giant Chunk of Amber was my Great-grandmother's, she gave it to me when I was 18.
Odd shield shape locket flea market
Triangle Lightning Bolt charm gift from Ozan
Heavy Old Key from flea market in Italy, I have a few, they are good luck (I sent one to Zana as a gift last year!)
Silver Cowbell thrifted
Teensy Silver Viking Helmet from Hunter, his from college. It has a tiny lightning bolt on it ! I wear this most days..sometimes alone, sometimes added to other things.
JC on the cross Pocketknife same old Chinese dude as the other two pocketknives
Silver & Enamel Aztec-ish thing gift from Mark J

NOT PICTURED The contents of my middle school & college jewelry boxes, both of which are currently in storage. In there you will find the barbell from my tongue piercing, my old nose ring, lots more crystals, more lockets, more Elizabeth & E-related things (duh).

I think I sold/gave away about twice this amount in the past year. YOU CAN'T KEEP IT ALL (sadface) !

Ok, I have a teensy bit of FashFatigue, please forgive me. l\Let's look at some choice shots from my iphone from the past week while I catch up on Style.com and watch all the Bravo that I have missed.

i wore a cape and they all thought i was weird

I am in Florida.

I am trying to blend in by donning the garb of the indigenous peoples.

Seriously: between the 70s housedress, my dad's black dress socks & the 70s sandals, I could probs slip into the Red Robin for an earlybird dinner around 3 PM and no one would really know. I'll tell them that the reason I have such luminous pearl-colored unwrinkled skin is that I have Benjamin Button disease and I am really 107 years old and when I was a girl Grover Cleveland was President.

Also? It's warm here. How's that snow, New Yawk?

marshmallow quicksand

I like these things.

IT'S SWALLOWING ME ALIVE

1  Impossibly yellow tights (I wish they represented better on film. They are shocking, really.) from Topshop ($1 clearance?! What's wrong with you, New York? YOU DON"T WANT THESE?)
2   Peter Benchley's The Deep (When Hunter reads it to me. In the dark.)
3  A VHS copy of The House of the Devil (see it see it see it)
4  White Lightning original paper feather fascinator
5  Marshmallow cloud duvet
6  Having my bf take blog photos. Except he's kinda bossy. Don't tell him I said that.

hibernaterade

Wow/wow/wow. Shit got CRAZAY last night, right? S'now joke. (ew! hahahaaa.)

This is the hood of an old parka covered in fur scraps.
Purchased for $5 in Kansas City on this summer's Vision Quest.
It matches the fur collar of my coat perfectly. The overall effect is very FASHION YETI.

I lasted about 25 minutes outside last night.
You would think that having lived approximately 98% of my life on the east coast I would have some sort of snowppropriate footwear.
You would think wrong.

BACK ON THE SCENE. Let's post a shitload today and tomorrow, shall we?

scorpio eat scorpio

Happy Birthday, Marie Antoinette ! Happy Day of the Dead, Mexico ! Happy full moon, werewolves and the criminally insane!

the face of an adult (?)

Oh and...
It's my birthday, today?

How did that happen?
Another year older (ew), not too sure about wiser.. (Eh, overrated.)

I can unequivocally say that the past 365 days have been unlike any other in my entire life.
The biggest ups and downs and sad and happy and crazy and fun and carefree and worrisome and exciting moments of my life so far, TRUESTofFAX.

I can't decide if I am sad to see it end or relieved to put it behind me...mabes a bit of both?

Well anyway.
Here's to SCORPIOS, the sexy assholes of the zodiac.
I intend to have a pretty good day.

it seems like years ago already

i am SO BEHIND. so so so very blogbehind.
this FASHION WEEK we speak of, it's all a whirlwind of people and flashes and smalltalk and taxis and derek blasberg obsessively tweeting tavi's every move (does someone have a crush?)

i am gonna try to stick to chronology but time may get a tad ELASTIC on here in the days to come, bear with me please.

lets start with:
the party, the POP party. friday night.
larry gagosian's house. (when i say "house" i mean, HOUSE. elevator, sick art, amazing furniture..a swimming pool wth a clear plastic cover that coubled as dancefloor? NO BIG DEAL)

i, of course, danced most of the time? and didn't really take pictures?

me & laia, wine wine wine

i met gwen stefani and her huband BUSH. they look exactly like papparazzi photos of them; quite attractive. bjork was there and sofia coppola and proenzas and like, everyone?
i met MARYKATE which was sorta epic.

covergirl in rodarte

i tried to work up the courage all night to say something ANYTHING to olivier zahm, but i chickened out. and he was too busy dancing with daphne guinness ANYWAYS.

laia's boots

once my I R L friend alex "new haircut" hawgood showed up i was a crazed out dance machine. alex even got tavi out on the floor and totally made her kick out the jams.

alex. yohji anorak, ok? don't worry about it.

the amount of art in this house made my heart happy and hurt at the same time. so much goodness on every wall. the room we checked our COATS in was full of like, 30 warhols. amaze.

kate, shortstack, father of shortstack

laia & i stayed laaaaaaaate late with our POPgal becks and larry himself. talkin music and 90s.
you know why i loved larry gagosian? BECAUSE LARRY GAGOSIAN LOVES THE 90S.
to quote him:
"i love the 90s. they were just like the 70s but with tons of cash"
and i died.

maybe fashion makes the baby jesus cry

NY FW, DAY TWO.

dudes..new york is WET.
not like, andrew WK I GET WET, more like some sort of temperate slow and steady chinese water torture. it makes trying to look DECENT like, sooooo much fun, REALLY.

and so, this is how it went.
slow & steady wins the race black leather pocket tee (cut to croptop, SO much doper), jonathan saunders for target pyschedelia skirt, marc jacobs richard prince-y naughty nurse shoes.

GOLD STARS for susie bubble who pretty much correctly guessed my outfit while we (me, tavi, laia, kat, susie) waited for cushnie et ochs to begin yesterday.

SIDENOTE: the aforementioned black leather tee was molested by a crazy person at my herrrr salon yesterday, i was like who are YOU...i realized who he was when i saw his MARC JACOBS logo tattoo, this dude:

merc's ex, jason preston?
dude is locobananas, if you were wondering.

pps i miss this marc

the snake can see you

can't find a good spot for photos right now

my face isn't cooperating either.

i've worn this dress for three days in a row now...it keeps me (somewhat) awake.
saturday night i wore it to an alice in wonderland houseparty where i had to crawl through a tiny door to enter and shared knock-knock jokes with a dreadlocked tweedle dum.

i can't remember it's origin; i think it's from seattle.
i am single-handedly keeping polyester relevant. (to myself and myself alone).

gonna see the folks i dig

i have been out the nyc for a month and a day...i can't believe it.

i'm not ready to leave portland!
it's fine...i've already decided i'm coming back next month til the fall-ish.
new york in august, who needs it?

led zep / going to california

i will admit though...
my heart is jumping out of my chest with epic excitement at seeing brendan and kat and aviva and aya and jill and taco trucks and beaches and road trip planning...

gonna be the girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair. for a couple days, at least.

HOBO CAMP OH NINE continues apace.

ps. i can't thank jill enough for letting me stay at her place this whole time. and luke & caprice were the best of the best with dinners and bbqs and general fantasticness, and lara & derek & nat couldn't have been better to me in seattle.

love to love you, pacific northwest...be back soon, i promise.

i'm crazy for you, blog

i have missed the hell out of you my darlings and that is truestfax..i hate not blogging on the regs, and i hate that that sentence is really true. (NERD)

check it:
we had a day of free time on saturday!
it was basically devoted to sleeping in and then it took about 400 hours to walk to the tate modern (and about 400 more hours to navigate it. NEGATIVE POINTS FOR FLOW, ENGLISH MUSEUM PLANNER BRAHS.) and it was HUMID and a little bit ICKY but we POWERED THROUGH. all in the name of ART.

there is a ruscha ROOM. dopeness.
the top left is an all time favorite, obvs

the tate is the only museum i have been to that devotes so much space (or any?) to fluxus artwork. as a certified yoko ono lovah/aesthetics nerd, it's pretty exciting.

m/m paris posters..superhuge and pretty fucking cool I R Lz.

there is also a jeff koons room, or did you already know?
it's obscenely reflective, if you were wondering.
see...I STILL EXIST!
i know this blog in the past week has not supported that argument.

things are gonna be back to norms soon enough...
one more day in londontown..and then it's back to bikes and beers and layers in july. (i miss portland!!! i really do...what does that mean?)
