in my mind's eye

The vibe for the McQ FW10 lookbook is baaaaaasically my dream self as a goth in 1997.
I loved wearing my hair in Bjork-balls and I was dying it black back then, too.

I've been growing my bangs long long all winter and now I want them kiddie-scissors-gone-awry shortshortshort.

 MCQ BY ALEXANDER MCQUEEN FW2010
Don't you want to buy a bunch of pants at the thrift and seam rip the hell out of them and then..just..glue gun smockdress thing?

  MCQ BY ALEXANDER MCQUEEN FW2010
Hey now, my ChloƩ doc boots!
And a tablecloth from a GothScottish picnic.
And your tallest friend's sweater.
Why do I want to wear it all so badly?
I would look like a homeless shoplifter in this and YET.
And. Yet.
It looks so perfect. If not a tad bulky.

PS, I bought 99 cent black lipstick last night for reasons unknown to me.
I put it on and scared myself.

afternoon delights

My longtimelove affair with Osborn oxfords (which started last year when I bought the perfect African print pair at the Brooklyn Flea Market) hit levels of insanity when Keren and I visited their studio last week!!

SO MANY OPTIONS. As we all know, I bought the pair I am wearing and Keren went with the ones she is wearing....

CHUKKA BOOTS!

I want them all.

Information on how to get your very own pair(s) and/or CUSTOM MADE SHOES included in my post over at my joint on Full Frontal Fashion..go go go!

where is the baby

IT JUST HIT ME.

All my nostalgic teen-years angst comes crashing to a hopefully spectacular freakshow of screaming insanity TONIGHT. At Terminal 5. When me, Marisa, Kara, Emily, and Doree go see HOLE.

I really can't remember being this excited about an EVENT* in a longass time.

When she sings this song -and she better sing this song- I am gonna freak out. BIG TIME. CROWD SURF. GET WEIRD. You've all been warned.

The last time I saw Hole PROPER (not counting her surprise Lolla perfomance, or any other weird industry party things) was at Roseland in 1995, Live through this tour. I guess I should wear the barrettes I bought there tonight?

*except for First Kiss at 92YTribeca, DOY

animeanit

Why yes, I DID dress like Sailor Mercury on Monday, how sweet of you to notice!

I mean, ok. Not really. Just sort of. I got a new sailor-y shirt from Fox and Fawn (I finally got to stop by the new store and see Bev's white hair!! I love both. Still some of the best and most affordable vintage in New York!)

HEYYYY DOLLA BILL JANGLE! Where you been ? I missed you. Let's be cool again.

Oh, these pink beauties are from the sadly-and-sorely-missed Poppette..the ribbons are velvet and the exact matching shade.

PHOTO FING SALUTE

I'm not really wearing lipstick for spring & summer, just doing a superflushed cheek situation.
Not sure how it's working out, my bf keeps asking me if I am pissed off about something?
I like it though...I am basically thisclose to Baby Lynnie rouge circles. Somebody stop me.

This shirt slays me. The alternative vibe, if Anime sailor teens are not quite your THANG...is Flying Nun (thank you, Ronnie).

at a glance

I am really into do this weekly post of my week in iPhone-ness...I guess that is sorta what Tumblr is for, but let's let WL get DIVERSE, shall we?

OMG, It's Lisa! And Court! And a tiny part of one of Louise's pictures! ON THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE! (I am fully in the tractor beam of this show. I try to break free, and I cannot. Weak.)

Homemade baked egg & arugula pizza, no big deal

Took a walk through Central park to the Met, no big deal, part 2.

Have to take a better pic of this, my favorite outfit in a while: SPRINGSPRUNG. Hayden-Harnett denim trench, Lauren Moffat silk dress (thanks Lauren!), Happy Socks, Target wedges (standing in for the Celines. or Jeffrey Campbells. NEED NOW!)

Hunter's plate. First trip to Pies N Thighs. That is a straight up BALL OF FRIED CHICKEN on the top left there. Insanity. I ate my first hush puppy ever. It was ok.

Dear Apple,
I am so addicted to my iPhone camera, please let the next gen have a flash and a MUCH BETTER lens?

gone postal

Reasons I love to go to my office:
I can IM, text, and have lunch with Lesley pretty much simultaneously.
General Gavin-ness.
No shortage of Dad jokes.
Trevor once bought us all Skor bars and I hold on to the hope that the magic of that day will be repeated again.
Sometimes Ronnie stops by and leaves me notes and drawings (The last one was a WHITE LIGHTNING logomade out of dicks. I HEART ART!!!)
I crack up about 98% of the time.
Repeat first line about Les.

Also? I GET MAIL !!

I love mail you guys, I LOVE IT.
Packages and letters and zines and postcards all intvites. All awesome, all showing up on my desk...YES!

Latest greatness on that has showed up at 14th St:

under.ligne Dress. My new favorite item of clothing. Outfit post forthcoming.

Whim Quarterly: A new magazine by my old friend Paul "Underdubs" Underwood..It's funny, it's actually printed on PAPER (novel!) and..it comes with a free toy inside! (note, no free toy inside)
EDIT! THERE ARE FREE TOYS! (Breaking: I am shtoops)

Oh and this?
This is just a Tim Lincecum baseball card, with a piece of his jersey inside of it.
I know umm hmmm likeeee NOTHING baseball, but I caught about 2 seconds of Tim on teevee last year and sorta fell in love. He is a supertall long hair pot smoking baseball star from the pacific northwest, ummmm HELLO, I am your #1 fan. PS I have no idea what team he even plays for.
Anyways...my longtime friend Mr. Scott Opirhory sent me this crazy thing.
I wanna make a jangle out of it? Just like the Abba turd in Priscilla Queen of the Desert? (Anyone?)

WHAT TREASURES AND DELIGHTS WILL I FIND TODAY?
I.
can't.

spring flingz

Life is SA-WEEEET right now, bloggybffs!
My laptop is back and as good as ancient, the weather is staying around 68 degrees (tights optional, my favorite temp) and I have a little bit of good ol' fashioned LEGAL TENDER to spend!!!

I have been starved for a good ol' SHOP.
A few of my new favorite things!

A few things old, a few things new, a few things gifted, a couple things blue? Some new sunglasses, stripey socks, a backpack, a dope necklace, new oxfords and a knuckledusterbuster ring, and a couple of silky dresses.

I bought a Fjallraven Kanken backpack at the Opening Ceremony shop at the Ace (I like it better than the regs OC store), 50% for fashion and 50% because I am getting an unbecoming GANGSTA LEAN from carrying my laptop around in a shoulder bag.

The Wonder Woman cassette necklace is an AMAZING gift from Sunshine (whose entire increeeeedible package to me is soon getting a post of it's own)

One-of-a-kind embroidered oxfords from Osborn (I visited their studio in Brooklyn, post coming soon!!). How amazing are these shoes!!! Since I bought my first pair of Osborn's at the Bk Flea (almost exactly 1 year ago today!) I have been dyingggggg for another pair. There are a sample that they agreed to sell me. I adore them..that's an understatement.

Karen Walker perfect circle "Rover" sunglasses. Dreams realized, in sunglass form. I finally have Karen Walkers and I can add to my perfect circle lens collection.

The green satin and velvet 60s (?) headband was another part of my best-package-ever-received from Sunshine. I like to wear it more like a CROWN than a headband.

The stripeysocks are by Happy Socks...also from the OC store at the Ace Hotel aka my home away from home.

Not yet pictured, but part of the Spring haul:
An incredible silk/jersey dress by under.lignewww.underligne.com that was a gift from the adorable and incredible Doo-Ri and a couple of great gifted dresses from the amazing Lauren Moffat (you can see the skirt of one in the top pic)...coming soon!

My last bit of spring shopping business happened today at No. 6..I put in a custom order for a clog situtation...I am pretty sure no one else will have this combination. 15 business days is gonna feel like an eternity!!!

So good to be back on the internets scene, brahs.
I have about 10 new posts I want to put up so GET READY...ol??

a glitch in the matrix

My closest friend and confidante, aka this 5 yr old Apple Powerbook, needs a lil T L C.

Old man river here likes to make a superloud superannoying whirring/dying/grinding/gagging noise..oh..I would say..CONSTANTLY?

AND SO: it's time to go to the laptopspital.
24 hours without it. Starting now.

At first I think I will act ok.
Then I might start to shake.
Then I will try to check Twitter on my composition notebook and become enraged when there are no updates.
Then I will shout WHY CAN'T YOU BE MORE LIKE YOUR OLDER BROTHER? at my iPhone.
Then I will run to the Apple store on Ninth Ave and press my face up against the glass and mouth ILOVEYOUILOVEYOUILOVEYOU over and over again.

Ought to be a good time!

SEE YOU IN 24 HOURS!

transitive properties

Good Morning, hotsteppers & lyrical gangsters.
I have a little Sensual SAT Prep question prepared for you.. Please have your pencils ready and eyes on your own paper.

Q:
If I love my dear blƶggerganger LouLou (who really IS my British twin)...

... and LouLouLovesYou, (by way of making the cuhuuuutest silky underyourclothessituations) how many pairs of knickers with hearts on the ass can I buy before I spend all my rent money?

When you have successfully finished the equation, please pass your scantrons –face down– to the front of the room.

Thank you, class dismissed.

fashion hoarders part 2

As promised, I will continiue to fully expose my maximalism to the unflinching internets. As I am actually still moving into my apartment (long story), there are so SO many boxes of treasures that have yet to be unpacked, and thrust into your eyespace.

I started going throuh my jewwrees the other night, to find my Elizabeth nameplate (feeling it again) and realized..good GRIEF I have a lot of charm/pendant/things-to-hang-from-yr-jangle..BLOOOG POST? (nerd!). Here are some of the highlights.

Let's consider this the pruned & curated collection; I purged/sold so much last summer before VISION QUEST OH NINE. I kept everything that was sentimental, important or had a great story.

SIDENOTE Embroidered art is one of my collections (consider this a teaser). This Matisse-inspired situtation right here was purchased in the South Hamtpon (they have really good thrifts!).

Blistered Pearl by Heather Morra, gift from my mom
ENORMOUS Scorpion Las Vegas thrift, bought on my sister's 21st bday weekend
Sterling Silver perfume heart (top left) from Paramus Park Mall when I was 13
Yin-Yang/Weed leaf & Flying Eagle pocketknives 25 cents each from old Chinese man on Grand Street (bought with BDonns about 3 or 4 yrs ago)
Scorpion / E / Scorpion / E necklace gifts from my grandfathers when I was a child
Elizabeth nameplate from the mall (?) bought in college
Tiny harmonica (before this craze of tiny harmonicas, sorry but TRUE) from a children's store in Soho
Assorted lockets (hearts and otherwise) thrifted, collecting since high school
TCB in a Flash from Graceland, 1st cross country trip in 2000
Bullet from Army Navy store in Portland last summer (also bought with BDonns)
Ceramic Elizabeth heart gift from Ece
78 gift from my sister

Giant Ass Hippie Crystal recent gift from my sister
Red Glass Coral / ES heartshaped locket / Evil eye / Diamond center flower assorted gifts. The engraved locket is from an ex-bf and has a pic of me and my grandmother in it. The others were gifts from family members. They are always on this chain and I wear this when I fly or need luck!
YinYang Ball gift from BDonns (how did he figure so prominently into my jangle collections???) (Hunter wears this sometimes. it has a tiny bell inside- JINGLE JANGLE!)
Giant Chunk of Amber was my Great-grandmother's, she gave it to me when I was 18.
Odd shield shape locket flea market
Triangle Lightning Bolt charm gift from Ozan
Heavy Old Key from flea market in Italy, I have a few, they are good luck (I sent one to Zana as a gift last year!)
Silver Cowbell thrifted
Teensy Silver Viking Helmet from Hunter, his from college. It has a tiny lightning bolt on it ! I wear this most days..sometimes alone, sometimes added to other things.
JC on the cross Pocketknife same old Chinese dude as the other two pocketknives
Silver & Enamel Aztec-ish thing gift from Mark J

NOT PICTURED The contents of my middle school & college jewelry boxes, both of which are currently in storage. In there you will find the barbell from my tongue piercing, my old nose ring, lots more crystals, more lockets, more Elizabeth & E-related things (duh).

I think I sold/gave away about twice this amount in the past year. YOU CAN'T KEEP IT ALL (sadface) !

topshop day 3 a.k.a. el fin

Here it is..the final installment of my truly insane superfun bananas tenure as Blogga Photographa for Topshop's 1st Anniversary in New Yawk.

By Day 3 my legs were sore as hell and my patience for the Soho area as my weekend destination had worn a tad thin...but I think a good time was still had by all involved. Free cake does that to people.

PHIL CHANG CAME TO SAY HI! I WORE MY PASTEL-EST DRESS FOR THE BABY JESUS.

Sunday was the most mellow of the days (it was Easter, after all) but that didn't stop so many of you awesome WL readers from coming..thank you !!! I love meeting you all.

PEEPS PRESENTS & THAT POUCH WAS FULL OF CANDY! ALSO: TINY CUPCAKES FROM CHRISSY.

I have to say a special thanks to Kelsea & Michelle, 2 awesome girls I met that day who both brought me candy! I MEAN..I have the best blog readers ever.

Other visitors on Sunday included Phil, Laia, Keren, James, Ami, Chrissy, a girl with a Moncheechee, a girl whose hair was almost to her knees and a Japanese dude in a Dinosaur Jr tee.

The shenanigans level got a lil bit high towards the end of the day; of all the "props" present Theresa & Krista were the most popular and those two know how to take a photo...You'll see.

And the winner? Loan Tran !

This was Loan's second time coming by (you can see her in the Day 2 pics in a blue wig). This one might the hardest to describe as to WHY I chose her..she was just kinda magickal. LOOK AT THIS HAND JEWWREE.

She had on wings. And tiny hats. And wouldn't stop dancing.

And she is an accountant.
That maybe put it over the top for me. So she is the final winner, and I hope you enjoy the $250, gal!

I hope you guys all enjoyed these photo posts as much as I did.
I had so much fun with this project; thanks Topshop!
