When I love something, I LOVE IT.
If you read this blog, you know I LOVE, with a true passionate intensity, my friend Kate and her line of KATHERINE FLEMING bags.

They are, to me, a rare combo of supercool, totally forever, and gorrrgeousssness.
Rarely have I worn one/shown someone one/talked them up without ladies FREAKING out over them.

If you  have always wanted one (and I know there are lots of you out there. Because you tell me. Often.) then it's TIME TO GET EXCITED, GALS:

Sample sale !!!
I AM GOING, YOU HAVE TO GO TOO.
All necessary info is in the pic, write it in yr diary or put it in a locket. THIS IS IMPORTANT.

Send me pix of what you get!

the day the earth stood still

CONFESSIONS!

LOOK INTO MY EYE AND TELL ME YOU ARE LISTENING

Are you ready, are you sitting down? For 2 days this week I wore...pants?

I shocked myself, really. PANTS. I own exactly 2 pairs of pants. Peggy Noland dropcrotch cheetahprint hammer pants (for casual Fridays) and Dries Van Noten linen denim giant leg trousers that I bought at Barney's in 2002.

This week I wore the latter. I haven't worn these pants since like...2005.

LET'S CALL THESE WHAT THEY ARE, MMKAY? FASHION JNCOS.
PANTS // DRIES VAN NOTEN     CARDIGAN // ROGAN    JERSEY // BF'S   SHOES // RANDOM PATENT BLACK OXFORDS    LIPSTICK // MAC RED

I don't know what came over me. I knew I really wanted to wear Hunter's Michael Jordan jersey, and that was already supes 90svibin to me, stylewise. And so I guess I just went for it?

This outfit is inspired by:
Myself at 16 (good LORD were my pants enormous), this photo from Brendan:

I TOTALLY HAD PANTS LIKE THIS IS 1996. ANYONE REMEMBER "MOM N ME"? ANYONE?

And by this:

LOUIS VUITTON PRE-FALL 2010

It felt really good, but only when I wore it with red red RED lipstick (MAC RED is so dope, and it smells like frosting) and heels. Otherwise, I felt a lil bit like a scrub.

I TOOK A PICTCHA SO IT WOULD LAST LONGA

Are bifurcated garments my new frontier for the twentydime? SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT.

cops & queers make good lookin' models

Today let's take a little trip down memory's highway and tip our 40s to the awesome but short lived GLAMROCKER period of Brian Warner, aka Marylin Manson.

Mechanical Animals, anyone?

I MISS THIS!
In a weird way, I think I started to get more of an appreciation for fashion's hilarity when this record came out. First, the songs are sort of amazing, and secondly...Manson was KILLING IT with this look. No one was really going all weird at this point; I remember watching his perfomance on the MTV Music awards that year (99) and giggling with DELIGHT because it was so over the top and FUN. and FUNNY.

I SPY A RAZORBLADE RING! PAGING GAGA?

LET'S DO ONE OF THOSE CGI DUETS WITH MANSON THEN AND GAGA NOW. BFFS!

It's the same way I feel about Gaga...they are basically living out an elaborate art project that is here to make us all laugh and have a good time. And, I suspect, it is way to amuse THEMSELVES.

BOOBIES AND A BARBIE CROTCH

This era was not too well received and good ole MM has gone back to being a white-faced wonky eyed Satan-loving creeper of the darkness.
Which..is fine, I guess, except I prefer Platform latex boots and chola lipliner. It's much more fun.

Please listen to this all day today, I am gonna. And the next time you do karaoke, consider writhing on the floor at your dollar-a-song joint of choice while you whine: THE DRUGS, THEY SAY, ARE MADE IN CALIFORNIAAAAAA...it will probably get you a standing O.

stop motion addictions in the twenty dime

I have new favorite movie. And you need to see it LIKE, YESTERDAY.

A TOWN CALLED PANIC, anyone?

HORSE, COWBOY & INDIAN IN THE ROLES OF HORSE, COWBOY & INDIAN

I like to think that if I had the patience, genius and wherewithall this would be the kind of movie I made if I made stop motion French language tales of ridiculousness, complete with attractive lady horses that wear purses, barns full of sheep in pajamas (it was bedtime, duh), a shouting farmer that eats a giant kitchen sponge of nutella for breakfast and a pig n' an octopus as BFFs.

I loved every second of it and I cracked up the entire time. I don't even know how to describe the plot..it starts with a disastrous attempt at a birthday gift for Horse and then...unravels from there? I love cotton used as fire extinguisher stuffs, shiny paper used as water waves, human sized butter knives for small plastic farmer's wife, the sounds of a hourse reading the newspaper and the patter of the sea people's flipper's as they (shhhh) STEAL WHAT ISN'T THEIRS.

The whole thing made me so happy..

I was lucky enough to watch it in my bed under a mountain of marshamallow duvet because my bf had a screener (read his review, if you are so inclined)..but if that is not your reality (too bad so sad)..it is at the IFC Center here in NYC until next Thursday! Please go see it, and then call me to tell me how much you loved it.

stomping

So MUSIC HEAVY on the bloggyblog lately! I can't help it, there's so much I'm excited about right now.

SLEIGH BELLS! Brooklyn's latest dopeshow.

I saw 'em this weekend at The Studio at Webster Hall and for a band with only about 7 songs, not only was it RAD, it was buzzbuzzbuzzaaaay. [According to people who know better than me, there was no less than like, 10 rekkid label people there and just FYIIIIIII...The Studio is like..the size of the Mercury Lounge.(translation..this shit is about to BLOW UP, dudes)]

They're some punishinglyloudgood electronic sounds: a boy on a guitar, and a girl bringin the noise.
I am officially a big fan of Alexis (said noisebringer) as she is foxy and her bangs stayed pretty much perfect as she was rocking out and dancing and raging.

How you keep yo hair so perfect, gurl?

CROWN ON THE GROUND! Get into this stompynoise..I am feeling like I need music to bash around to lately and this is totally it.

PS: When yr bff texts you 6 months from now about the sold out Sleigh Bells show at Bowery Ballroom and have you heard of them because they are kinda dope? you can tell them you heard about that shit EONS ago on WL. I am doing you a favor here, it's because I like you so much.

gaga, ooh la la

THIS IS IT, FRIENDS.
This is the moment.
If you love fashion, and don't love GAGALOO TOO..then you don't get the joke, you don't get the fun, you don't get the THING. You don't have to love the music (bad move) but you have to LOVE THE LOVE.

Today I watched the Lady's new video, Bad Romance and to quote Polly Mellon in Unzipped..IT CHANGED MY EYE. That is to say this shit is THE ONLY LEVEL.

This is also a pretty offish landmark for ol' Lady Gags- no more homemade couture "homage"... There is ALEXANDER MCQUEEN and it is REAL.

LET'S LET IT ALL IN:

FIRST SHOT: WE ENTER HEAVEN.
And HEAVEN looks like a Dolce & Gabbana ad! If you were wondering, I audibly GASPED when it started. I love.

Um, this is the only way to sit in a chair.

Mental note, dismantle old VCR and place parts on face, POST HASTE. [ED NOTE, eek they ARE razor blades. I am not that hardcore!] I mean, this is 30 seconds in and already 4000 mega fashion moments have happened.

But then..Que es esto, La Gaga? Nail mesh? (Is this also bizarre product placement?)

Oh, and if you were WONDERING Where the Wild Things Are?

They are here:

good grief, creeper latex Max costumes! Holy Whaaaa. WILD RUMPUS, INDEED.

Hey kids, REMIND ME TO D I for Y this kooky crown.

There is some sort of story in the vid of like..an overdose? Bad Romance indeed, Gags. This hair is neo-Frenchy-in-Grease. I want easter egg curls, i think. Anime freak eyeballs, mabes no.

Who's this guy? Is that couture headgear?

I am ready to move past this look. I call this "Hot Bod Gagalog", or "Dope Britney". it's sexxxay, but I need more. (...and more is coming, JUST YOU WAIT)

Oh hai.

PSSST i see you, MCQUEEN SHOE, I SEEEE YOUUUUU. (fashionforeshadowing!)

Sing alongggggg: I want your love and I want your revenge

I want your love, I dont wanna be friendsssssss

OK. I just got you started up, are you ready?
Ready for the MOST MAJOR MOMENT EVER?

FULL

MCQUEEN

HEAD TO MOTHERFUCKING ARMADILLO TOE !

McQUEENADILLOS!!!!!!

I mean, I CAN'T. Can you? I can't. I am so in love.
STOP THE WORLD. GAGA OWNS IT ALLLLLLL.
NO ONE can best this. NO ONE!

2 MAJOR song notes:
1. 1990s Madonna impersonation is reaching an all-time high in this jam AS IT SHOULD. She shouts, "Cuz I'm a free bitch, baby" and it sounds ZACTLY like M.
2. The french chorus at the end is hilarimazing. J'adoreeeeeeee.

There is some amazing shit at the end of the vid too- bitch shows her full ASS and sets herself on fire on a bear rug but like, after the McQueen-adillos I have nothing left. I feel like this:

I LOVE YOU, LADY GAGA.

did you see the lights

Oh maaannnn, THIS JAM is really getting me today.

Don't sleep on Steve Miller Band, homies. This is some mystical makeout shit right here!
Where's my stoner love tent when I really want it?

Happy Sunday!

pig in da city

I know you all have your countdown clocks at the READY, one week until I am ONE YEAR OLDER. Please stop wracking your brains, I have your gift right here:

MICRO PIGS! TEENY TINY TEACUP PIGLETSSSSSSS!

I mean, you guys...
MICRO PIGS!

Did you HEAR ME?

IT'S A PIG. and it fits in a TEACUPPPPPPPP!

Please meet Kurt Cobacon & King Vitamin.* Now GET IN THAT TEACUP.

Shit is BLOWIN UP.
I used to want a teepee. I used to want to live in one and stay there forever, wearing animal skins and smoking weed out of earth bongs but shit went too VIRAL- you can get one at Opening Ceremony in Tokyo and I saw teepee TATTOOS in Portland. PLAYED OUT, suckas.

But POCKET PIGLETS?
Mark my words dudes, those are the new TEEPEE.

Last weekend I saw a pig race at the NC state fair and I fell in hardcore likeylike with a potbellied piglet named #5 (Hunter said his name was Last Place. I don't care!)..he was so mellow and cool, ran the race and sauntered up the ramp back to his pen like, "Whatevs you guys, I didn't want those prize Cheetos anyways. What's on Bravo?".

It's in the ETHER. PIGS ARE IT!

PS *I can't take credit for the genius of the names. Whatevs, HUNTER..be smarter than me WHY DON'T YOU.

PPS I will mos def still eat bacon. Is that fucked?

new is the new "new"

So the BOOTS make me dress differently...as I stated in a previous post..something about them makes me want to do weird longer lengths and odd shapes?

I found this "dress" at H&M for 10 dollars...I don't know if the greater public of NYC was ready for this jelly, this thing is just a giant rectangle with arms and pockets, and there were LOADS on the CLEARANCE rack...but I thought it had potential? And with the BOOTS in mind i got it.

Um..the first thing i did to it was take some scissors and cut 2 belt holes in the front and 2 in the back and ran this satin Chanel ribbon (where the fuck did this come from? NO idea, as I am sadly Chanel-less in my life) through the holes, with it being tied around on the inside, if you understand.

This thang needed SOME sort of shape to it, at least on a gal like me.

I have become a little obsessed with it.
This thing + boots + obnoxiously bright lipstick = TOTES Swedish shopgirl vibe!
i also feel lil Natalie Merchant-y, is that weird?

PS, I can't remember the last time my KNEES were covered. HOW DROLL!

Also obsessed with: My Katherine Fleming Kate bag in ELECTRIC YVES KLEIN BLUE. I love it, I love it SO MUCH. Every time I wear it, I get a million compliments (go forth to Barney's and PURCHASE, my dears)

Sidenote on this new vibe I am digging: It is most decidedly NOT dude apporoved. Not that I care much, but this dress is not really HOT.
Also, bros are weirdly ANTI on my dream boots! Hunter thinks they are the ugliest things ever and Hate Martin straight up LAUGHED at me! DUDES HAVE NO VISION! S'cool, I look down at them and feel giddy and that's all that matters.

This horse medallion remains the BEST jangle of all time, I have almost had it almost one year exactly (thank you AGAIN andreas, best gift status).

I may live in this outfit for a few more days, so if you were tryin to spot me in a crowd...it just got that much easier.

i like what i like

Looks that I have saved in a folder on my desktop called "Maybe I shouldn't, but I Tooooootally do"

VIKTOR & ROLF S/S 2010

I fully realize that this is a giant scrub brush Klaus Nomi dickie of a situation but i can't help myself. Can i rest my head on it WHILE I'm wearing it and take a lil disco nap? Fantasgreat.

PRADA S/S 2010

The Prada spring collection was pretty terrible, I think most people are feeling that way. But this shoe, while still TERRIBLE is still a TAD TERRIBLY AWESOME? Lucite, chandelier drops, VELCRO! Why does this get me excited? hahahaaa.

CHLOÉ S/S 2010

Don't get confused, I am not a fan of Hannah McGibbon era Chloé (i still miss you, Phoebe..Celine looks kinda rad, yaaaay) but. BUT! Much like the controversial (read:mostly hated) light denim-n-leather looks that i LOVED at Givenchy last spring, i am a sucker for almost barfy denim looks. This is sort of dope, i am sorry but IT IS. CHLOE SEVS will TOOOTALLLLY rock this shit and then you will all be like, oooommmg i need two tone denim kneecaps, toute suite. (sidenote, CSevs is the only person who wears current Chloé well. I stand by that). i shall thrift this shirt and rip off the pockets ASAP.

MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA S/S 2010

Question: Is this made of Fedex envelopes? Just wondering. I would wear pants if i could get my hands on this. Also- waterproof! That plus pink equals win/win.

CHARLES ANASTASE S/S 2010

Soooo totally unflattering and weird. Potato sack waders. SO wrong, why am i sooo drawn to them?

MARNI S/S 2010

Grandpa sock styling gets me every time.

you've got that certain something

FALL INSPIRATION IS UPON ME. it better be, it's gettin cold up in here.
after spending a good ten days watching/twittering/texting/facebooking (remind me to slap myself later) about the"cryin" video by aerosmith:

i have finally fully formulated my fall vibe: neo-grunge silverstone.
i bought this skirt the other day and it sort of cemented everything in my brain..plaid flannel mini with a black tulle overlay? SOOOO NEO GRUNGE! sometimes f21 steps it up.

clicklclicklclick

the full silverstone would be to wear this with my combat boots or those wood-heeled docs, but this is the alternate- clogs? i am so into it!

i feel like grey ribbed tights might be the fulltime must for this fall, for me at least. they look weird good with everything.
baggy crocheted sweater thing, free tweed coat (needs buttons, i'm getting to it EVENTCH). today's outfit is just the START, i need to perfect this jazz.

things i need to LIVE THE DREAM:
flannel shirts that i like (i have ONE from this summer's thriftventures)
a perfect ratty denim skirt?
THOSE DOC BOOTS
...a bellybutton barbell?
stephen dorff
dramatic bungee jumps
a boy who will get half heart tattoos with me?

alas, the perfect flippy 1990s LA hair shall never be mine, not in the cards. i will have to be satisfied with (to quote molinga from earlier today) "silverstone by way of beetlejuice" because....that's my lot in life.

me n my calvins

can we discuss calvin klein for a moment?

i feel like francisco costa is secretly putting out some of the odd/coolest stuff at NYFW and no one is really getting into it! is it because it's a mega brand? i mean, those paperlike origami coats n dresses last season were sort of breathtaking and crazy...i feel like we should all be lusting after this stuff more!

i was very lucky to go to the calvin klein S/S 2010 show and i have to say, it was really beautiful. all the girls looked like they had been caught in the rain, drenchy lowponytails and slick skin but it was so pretty?

the clothes looked like these delicate diaphanous filmy dresses and coats that had been soaked by a downpour and then dried on a clothesline or something... i promise you, the photos take all the delicacy and wonder out of it:

you have to trust me, they were so pretty and weird and COVETABLE. i never go for a one-sleeve situation but these were so cool. the first section of all whites and the last sections pastels were my favorite.

they best ever though was the SHOES:

the white patent leather is SO MINE.
they are reminding me of the Sassy magazine editor craze of the mid-90s when they all took their birkenstocks to st mark's and got mega platforms put on them*.

wrong + right = so best

i may need to recreate this this winter, who's with me?

*thank you marissa for reminding me of that phase a few weeks ago, i CANNOT BELIEVE i forgot about it...
